I have to say, I’m really not the biggest fan of honey.. or lemon.. or ginger.. but this mixture always makes me feel like I’m getting better with each sip. Ginger is somewhat of a natural remedy that helps with a variety of stomach problems and other related discomforts. Lemon has a lot of vitamin C, an antioxidant and essential vitamin needed for natural growth and repair of tissues all over your body. Whenever I teach children about vitamins, vitamin C is always known as the vitamin that keeps us from getting sick and keeping us nice and healthy! Warm lemon water is thought to be a natural detoxifying drink and with the addition of ginger, some say it helps boost metabolism! Honey is said to benefit sore throats, upset stomachs and digestion, and is a natural sweetener. I like to use honey sometimes in place of sugar as well. I definitely suggest this drink for any throat or stomach discomfort as well as any cool morning to start your day on a warm and healthy note!
Ingredients per cup:
-1 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
-1/4 tsp fresh grated ginger
-1/4 tsp honey (or more to your liking)
-Start by boiling your water, using a teapot, your keurig, or a microwave. So start with your hot water.
-I used a mini strainer to juice my lemon into a separate little bowl and then poured that into my hot water and mixed.
-Peel and grate about 1/4 tsp of fresh ginger and either use your strainer or add directly into your water and lemon water. I like to add the ginger right in. If you don’t like to chew ginger, it’s not really a problem once it settles to the bottom of the mug anyway.
-Add your honey, mix it all together, and enjoy!
