I’ve heard this too many times, “Oh it’s healthy.. I wont like that,” or, “Oh it’s healthy so you know it’s not gunna taste good.” This is one of the most frustrating things for a nutritionist/dietitian to hear! Healthy doesn’t need to be any less enjoyable than “unhealthy,” but it’s all about the preparation. I really want to be able to show people that “healthy” eating can be easy and enjoyable.
I’m also a firm believer in MODERATION! Normal, intuitive, eating is not depriving yourself of cravings here and there or indulging now and then, it’s eating in moderation. Eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, lean poultry (if you’re not a vegetarian or vegan), whole grains, and some chocolate or macarons – or chocolate macarons! Making sure you’re enjoying your food is so important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and is the difference between a diet and a lifestyle change! Diets never work- or at least not for long, so making sure to eat a well balanced diet and include some sweets here and there will be best, in my opinion, in the long run!
Now this may be a little crazy and a little out there but I want to try opening my blog up to anybody with nutrition or health related questions. I’m still only an undergrad Nutrition student, but I’m willing to help in any way I can or suggest resources if I can’t be of enough assistance to you. I’m hoping to gain experience through this section of my blog as well as help my followers in any way possible!
Feel free to post any questions or comments you have below and I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as possible!
